The research question board

Arxibvet is for the academic community: researchers and students following arXiv. Browsing and participation do not require an account.

  1. No money, prizes or financial stakes.
  2. Forecasts must concern arXiv papers or measurable activity around them. Opinion polls may ask about research practice.
  3. Label opinion polls with Opinion; they ask what respondents think and have no correct answer. Forecasts predict verifiable objects and events.
  4. Forecasts state the source, scope, voting deadline, expected decision date and missing-evidence rule. Opinion polls state their choices and closing time; final vote shares remain visible after close.
  5. Proposals appear publicly only after moderation. Moderators may edit unpublished proposals to fit the community.
  6. Published choices and deadlines are fixed. Forecast resolution rules are fixed and outcomes include dated evidence. Opinion polls close with final counts and shares.
  7. Longer and more open research horizons need longer settlement windows.
  8. Tags and automated flags help organize review; they do not establish scientific quality.

Counts represent recorded browser activity. Historical activity is imported only from supplied records; visitor estimates do not verify a person’s identity.

Your privacy

An anonymous browser cookie remembers your votes. Clearing cookies can create another identity, so visitor and voter totals are estimates of browsers. We store votes, dated activity and private proposals. Optional email notifications require confirmation; you can unsubscribe using your private link.

Save your ticket privately. Share copies only the public question link. For settled forecasts, “Share how I did” also includes your chosen answer. Your ticket and email stay private.

Opinion polls

Cards marked Opinion ask what respondents think. When voting closes, final counts and shares remain visible. Opinion polls have no winning or correct answer.

How forecasts settle

Each published question has fixed rules, a closing time and a named evidence source. Moderators publish the result and evidence. Missing evidence can lead to a void outcome. Votes express community opinions, not a scientific verdict or calibrated probability.

Paper dates and charts describe the stored corpus. A limited sample cannot establish complete coverage of today’s papers. Arxibvet is independent of arXiv and conference organizers.
